Coronavirus update letter to Parents

17th May 2020

Dear Parents

I hope this letter finds you, your children and all your family safe and well. I would like you all to know that we are planning carefully and methodically to try to bring some children back to school, for at least a little while before the summer holidays.

However, this can only happen when we are more confident that your children will be safe, your family will be safe and school staff will be safe. We understand that many of you will share the desire for children to be back in school with their friends and their teacher and the need for this to be as safe as possible.

The government have said that June 1st is the earliest possible date, for Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 to return to school, but this is not a definite date. As I have stated previously, we will not be welcoming more children into school from the 1st June.

When the scientific evidence is more convincing that the time is right to open school to more children, we will then look at offering school places to small groups of children. Please be aware that the offer to return to school will be part time. This means your child may be offered a place just for the morning or the afternoon or just for 1 or 2 days a week.

This means that there is a great deal of preparation work to ensure the building is safe and that staff are ready. We are already working hard to support your children’s learning at home and to provide support in school for children of key workers and a small number of other children. This will continue until everybody is back in school.

I hope throughout this pandemic you know that through my actions and decisions I have only ever and always acted in the best interests of your children and your family.

I will provide further updates when we are ready to welcome back more children. Until then please continue to keep up the outstanding effort you are all making at home with your children. Don’t hesitate to get in touch about anything you feel we can help out with in terms of advice and support in the coming weeks.

Stay safe everyone.
